The only thing better than a good book is another good book! And I can’t believe I’m finally saying this, but …
My debut novel has a release date!
That’s right. After eleven years of writing and submitting, Elk Lake Publishing is going to publish my first novel, and it’s a perfect fit for the Romance Reader’s Café – it’s a contemporary, Christian story with a healthy dose of romance!
It’s actually my second novel (the first one’s bad; you’ll just have to trust me). But it’s actually the third version of my second novel. You see, I started it, then I learned some skills to improve my writing style, so I tossed 45K words and started over. Then, after adding several more chapters, I realized I had some plot holes; instead of trying to fill them, I strengthened my characters then tossed another 45K words.
That’s right – you’ll never read almost 90,000 words of this manuscript. That’s a novel in itself!
It wasn’t easy throwing away that many words, but I didn’t want to hold on to them just because I wrote them. I wanted to write the best novel possible (even if that meant starting over again and again).
And on September 15 of this year, you’ll be able to tell me if it was worth the sacrifice, because that’s when Summer Plans and Other Disasters hits the shelves!
Clearly, I’m excited (have you ever seen so many exclamation points in one of my posts?), but this isn’t all about me. I want to hear from YOU:
What’s the last novel you couldn’t wait to read? Did you pre-order it? Reserve it at the library? And did it live up to your expectations?
(And to whet your appetite, here’s what’s coming in September…)
Were her plans a bust? Was she wrong?
Elementary school music teacher Callie Stevens thinks she’s finally figured out God’s plan for her life—she even made a list to keep her on track.
Moving in with her brother and reconnecting with her ex-boyfriend are at the top of the list. What’s not on the list is running into her childhood crush, Ryan. God wanted her to connect with Kyle, right?
Trying to figure out God’s plan is hard enough. But a dating-averse older brother, the young blonde who adores him, a pregnant best friend, and Callie’s continual mishaps make her wonder whether her best laid plans were truly God-inspired.
