Obsessive Reading

Do you ever find a new author you just can’t stop reading? Who writes books so exquisite that even when the floors need mopping, blog posts need writing, and groceries need picking up, it’s impossible to stop?

My latest author-find is Jennifer Peel, writer of sweet, contemporary romances. Her books have plenty of humor, romance and Southern Mommas who better not be messed with. Ten days ago, I hadn’t even heard about Jennifer Peel. I’m currently halfway through my fourth book of hers. And believe me when I say I’ve been enjoying my reading spree!

First I read “How to Get Over Your Ex in Ninety Days” and loved it.

Then I picked up “Professional Boundaries” and loved it MORE.

Enter “Statistically Improbable” and I’m not even sure I could love a book more.

But, like I said, I’m halfway through “His Personal Relationship Manager”, so maybe I can?

I’ve read laying across my bed in the morning,

snuggled up on the couch,

cramped in the car while waiting for the school bus,

soaking in the bathtub, and even lounging on the beach.

Reading is great escapism.

And the best thing? My new favorite author, Jennifer Peel, has written 23 books to date, and is releasing ANOTHER in less than two weeks.

Oh, be still my reading heart!

If you’re intrigued, you can find out more about Jennifer Peel and her books on her website: https://www.jenniferpeel.com

her books are sold on Amazon.com (and many of her books are available on KindleUnlimited as well)

So, what have YOU been reading lately?

Do you have periods of obsessive reading as well?

Austin Ryan makes her home in a forest clearing in the nutmegy part of New England.

In love with words, books and all things related, she can usually be found either reading or writing, or even reading about writing.

She wrote her first story at seven, an illustrated adventure about a troll girl retrieving her doll from the moon. The story was self-published in one copy, and most likely still exists in her mother’s attic.

Since then she’s written numerous stories, and now she is a member of American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW). Austin writes inspirational romance, working her way toward publication one paragraph at a time.

Apart from all things bookish, her favorite past times include going on adventures with the-best-six-year-old-ever, hanging (more) twinkle lights around the house, or simply watching the waves roll in from the ocean.

I can’t wait to start Book 7 in Tamera Leigh’s “Age of Faith” series – I’ve loved her writing for years, and she hasn’t disappointed me yet!

I’ve heard a lot of good about Tamara Leigh, but I’ve never actually read anything of hers. Oh, the neverending TBR pile 🙂

Lol. We have similar reading habits. I find a new-to-me author, love their book and then go and stock pile their back list!

I’m so relieved I’m not the only one! Thanks for reading, Sarah 🙂

I do my obsessive reading in the form of series. I have been known to wait years to get a whole series on my bookshelf before reading them. It can be difficult to wait, but I love to binge read a good series. As a reviewer though, I often find myself in a position of having to read books out of order or even reading one in the series and having to wait for the rest to be written. 😮

I haven’t read any of Jennifer Peel’s books but I’m hearing some good things so I may be adding to my TBR list. 😉 Thanks for the introduction to a new-to-me author Austin.

Oh wow, Loraine! You must have massive self-control to wait until you have the whole series on your shelf before reading it! I don’t know if I could do that.
And I hear you with the reviewer thing. And waiting for the rest of a new series to be written is the WORST. That’s where I’m at with the Dating by Design series by Jennifer Peel 🙁 She’s writing the next book right now. I’m always happy to introduce someone to a new writer! 🙂
